We’re dyin’ to do things our own way. We can't stay focused on things eternal. We're under control of our daily journal. We waste our gifts on unworthy pursuit like accumulating earthly loot. We abandon God's priorities to make room for trivialities. We clutter our days with so many events there's no time for the Lord, it just don't make sense! Ain’t takin’ a break till His people are restored. I’m so blessed He wants my help but I cannot keep His pace. The end is near, He’s redeemin’ the time gotta save the human race. Yeah. I often find I’m way behind in the work He calls me to. Then I realize there’s nothing that’s more worthy to pursue. I say a prayer. He draws me near. Equips me for the mission. The desires of my childish inventions. When I look back I shudder to think of my faith in it’s beginnings. I prayed with such selfish intentions. All I knew was in Sunday School I heard the teacher say: “Ask and it shall be given unto you”. I missed the part where the place to start is to learn the Father’s way. Gotta understand the Master’s plan from a Kingdom point of view. REFRAIN: I’m so thankful for God and His wisdom. For not giving me most of the things in my life that I asked Him for. Before I learned the power of praise and submission. When my faith was something new to explore, I took for granted what prayer was for. How often have we gotten our way and lived to regret it? We’re convinced we know what’s best for us and we cannot surrender it. We think we can call the shots in life without the vision to picture it. Trash bin burns. Smoke rises in the sky. All who see know tragedy and suffering is neigh. Calls pour in to 911. Inferno on the ground. Alarm bells ring. Sirens sing. Heroes are danger-bound. The brave men, engines 11 and 10 are the first ones on the scene. Ladder 5 is quick to arrive. All appears to be routine. There’s smoke and flame, easy to tame, out back on the loading dock. Contain the blaze in the breezeway. We’ll be home by 9 o’clock. In the blink of an eye the beast is inside. A fiery dragon on the prowl. “Frenchy”, Kelsey, Thompson rush in to quench the monster’s growl. As more brave crews hear the news of their brothers in the fight, They speed to the scene to help the team gain control and win the night. Hutchinson, Drayton, Benke and Baity, Mulkey and Champaign, They charge the darkness that lurks inside and join the doomed campaign. For the first men in time’s growin’ thin. Their air supply is low. Evacuate? No, it’s too late. Lost connection with the hose. Mayday cries are heard outside. Farewell message on the radio. “Come in Car 1. Please tell my wife “I loved her so”.
